Pharmacy Residency

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) residency training program is to provide organized and directed pharmacy training in a community hospital setting. The program centers on creating a caring and compassionate environment that promotes respect and dignity for every person.

Candidate Requirements:

1. The candidate must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree awarded from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
2. The candidate must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Nebraska.
3. It is strongly encouraged that the candidate be a member of the American Society of Health- System Pharmacists and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

Residency Opportunities

1. Provision of Drug Information related to patient care and prospective therapeutic drug monitoring to ensure provision of safe, efficacious, and cost effective pharmacotherapy to Alegent Creighton Health patients.
2. Gain hands on Pharmaceutical Care experience as a vital team member of the decentralized acute care services at Alegent Creighton Health’s Bergan Mercy Medical Center.
3. Staffing as a clinical pharmacist on weeknights and weekends in the Inpatient Pharmacy, and biweekly in the Anticoagulation Clinic.
4. Teaching opportunities are available with didactic lectures, grand rounds presentations, and precepting Pharm.D. students on clinical rotations.
5. Optional value-added programs are available through the Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions including a Teaching Certificate Program, Reflection Practitioner & Ignation Values seminars, and Advanced Critical Care Therapeutics.
