Dr. Bodnar grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for her undergraduate training, receiving a BS in Chemistry with minors in Calculus and Biochemistry. She graduated with High Distinction and was a Chancellor's Scholar at UNL (one of thirteen graduates with a cumulative 4.0 GPA).
She then moved to Omaha to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) from 1995-1999. She graduated with High Distinction and was in the top 1% of her medical school class.
She chose to stay at UNMC for her Internal Medicine Residency from 1999-2002. From 2002-2003, she was Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at UNMC and spent much time teaching the residents and also serving as an attending physician on the hospital service. She started her Cardiology fellowship at UNMC in 2003 and finished her training in June of 2006. She was Chief Cardiology fellow from 2005-2006.
In July 2006, Dr. Bodnar joined Cardiovascular Specialists and began her cardiology practice at Bergan Mercy, Mercy Council Bluffs and Lakeside hospitals within the Alegent system. In February 2009, the Cardiovascular Specialists group merged with the Alegent Health Clinic-Heart and Vascular Specialists forming a single, large group with the capability of providing Cardiology services across all of the Alegent Health campuses.
Dr. Bodnar practices general cardiology including both hospital and outpatient office consultations. She interprets echocardiography studies (ultrasounds of the heart) and performs trans-esophageal echocardiography as well as stress testing. She has a special interest in echocardiography and spent a great deal of her fellowship pursuing this interest. She has also received additional training in the interpretation of Cardiovascular CT scans (CT coronary angiography). She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Bodnar is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Nebraska Medical Association and the Metro Omaha Medical Society.
She is married with a young daughter who keeps her busy! She loves watching Husker football, attending baseball games with her family and traveling.
