Tara Whitmire, APRN is a native of Storm Lake, Iowa. She earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Iowa State University in 2001. That same year she enrolled in Creighton University's Accelerated Nursing program and earned her bachelor' s degree in nursing. She was employed with Alegent Health at Immanuel Medical Center and worked as a staff nurse on the post intensive nursing floor and intensive care unit. In 2004 she moved back to Storm Lake and worked as a staff nurse in outpatient surgery and later transferred to the intensive care unit, emergency department, and medical/surgical floor. She began working on her master' s degree at Creighton University in 2005. She graduated in May 2007 with her family nurse practitioner degree. She worked with the Nebraska Heart Institute from July 2007 to March 2008 and joined the Alegent Health Clinic Heart and Vascular Specialists in March 2008. Tara is responsible for inpatient hospital care at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Midlands Community Hospital and Lakeside Hospital. She also provides outpatient care at the Heart and Vascular Specialists offices located at Bergan Mercy Hospital and Midlands Hospital. Tara also is a sub-investigator for the TIMI-50, ASCEND-HF, and Aim-High studies.
Tara is board certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the Nebraska Nurse Practitioners as well as the American College of Cardiology. Tara is actively involved with the American Heart Association' s Heart Walk and other affiliated activities.
Tara and her husband enjoy watching the Kansas City Chiefs professional football team, visiting friends and family, walking and watching movies.
