Rodica E. Petrea, M.D., joined Creighton Medical Associates as a neurologist in the Department of Neurology at Creighton University Medical Center. She also serves as an assistant professor of neurology at the Creighton University School of Medicine.
Her clinical interests include cardiac disease and stroke; stroke prevention and treatment; genetics and stroke; intracranial atherosclerosis; and epidemiology of stroke and heart disease.
Prior to joining Creighton, Dr. Petrea served as an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Kentucky Neuroscience Institute in Lexington, KY. She also served as a staff neurologist and clinical PhD at Hiperdia-Pro-Life Diagnostic Center and the Institute of Cerebrovascular Disease in Bucharest, Romania.
Dr. Petrea earned her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania in 1995. She completed a vascular neurology fellowship and a neurology residency at Boston University Medical Center, and an internal medicine internship at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland, OH. She also participated in a scholarship program in neurology at Lariboisiere Hospital in Paris, France, and trained at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, while conducting research with the Framingham Heart Study.
Dr. Petrea is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Medical Association; American Academy of Neurology; American Heart Association/American Stroke Association; European Stroke Association; and Kentucky Neurological Society.
