If your baby is under three months old and has a
rectal temperature greater than 100.4 F
If the baby has less than four wet diapers in a
24-hour period in the first week of life, and less than six wet diapers in a
24-hour period after the baby is seven days old
If the baby refuses to eat for six to eight hours
If the baby experiences drastic behavior changes such
as increased irritability, excessive crying without a cause, extreme
sleepiness or floppy arms and legs
If there is redness around the belly button that
extends out into the stomach
If the baby repeatedly vomits or has green vomit
If the baby has a congested cough, running eyes or
running nose or difficulty breast feeding
If the baby's skin color becomes pale or very yellow
If the baby develops a rash with a fever
If the baby has frequent, watery stools with
little or no solid components
