Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation

sunburstThe Alegent Health Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation (IPR) program is designed to help individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness achieve goals that improve their success and satisfaction in key areas such as social interaction, vocational objectives, educational results and residential functioning. The Alegent Health IPR program supports participants in accomplishing these goals while offering flexibility to make individual choices regarding services and the opportunity to make changes as their recovery needs and aspirations change.

IPR allows participants to improve their ability to function at home, work, school, and in social environments. We assist participants in helping themselves by teaching them to focus on overcoming the disabling consequences of their illness and regain a valued role in the community.

Treatment Team
IPR Services are provided by bachelors or masters-prepared clinicians that meet the state of Iowa accreditation standards for a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner.

Program
Alegent Health IPR services are comprised of the following goal directed and time limited components:

Readiness Assessment
Identifies the participant’s level of motivation and readiness to work with the IPR staff to set an overall rehabilitation goal that will make a significant change in their life.
Readiness Development
During this phase, participants will increase their level of interest and motivation and eliminate hesitation of entering into the role recovery process. Self-understanding, recovery awareness, environmental awareness and support are the focus during this phase.
Goal Choosing
Assists participants in developing goals that will result in enhanced residential, educational, occupational or social arenas. Individuals define personal criteria that need to be met to ensure a successful outcome. Values clarification is an essential component during this phase.
Goal Achievement
Through a functional assessment, participants identify and then develop the skills, support, and other resources needed to successfully meet the social, emotional and intellectual requirements of their chosen role in society.
Goal Keeping
Provides participants with the support needed to maintain their goals and continue to function independently in their environment.

The IPR program hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Group meetings may be held in the evenings.
