Child/Adolescent Services

sunburstThis is the highest level of care serving child/ adolescent population with behavioral, psychological, or addictive disorders. Our goal is to resolve the admitting crisis as soon as possible and return the patient to his or her highest level of functioning in their community. The inpatient program provides a safe, secure and nurturing environment 24 hours a day.

Our treatment approaches and programming are developed with a youth centered, family focused, and culturally responsive orientation. It is the interdisciplinary team’s intent to help patients and their families learn age-appropriate coping skills. Healing can begin only when each person’s unique problems and needs are recognized. Our Mental Health practitioners believe all youth and their families have the right to high quality care and we strive to help families learn to enjoy healthy lives together.

An interdisciplinary team provides medical, biological, social, spiritual, behavioral and emotional support. Patients will receive:

  • individual counseling
  • group therapy
  • community groups
  • basic living skills
  • medical teaching to further understand the patient’s disorder
  • psychological evaluations
  • recreational and occupational therapy
  • spirituality groups
  • dietary activities
  • strong family system involvement
  • behavior modification using the Boys Town Psychoeducational Model

Discharge from this acute level of care is made when the patient has met the treatment goals set by the interdisciplinary team, patient and family, and a continuing plan for recovery has been made.  Discharge and aftercare recommendations will be made collaborating with the patient, parent or guardian, interdisciplinary team and referral source to assure continuity of treatment.

Referrals may be made directly by a psychiatrist and/or physician, the Department of Social Services or the Department of Human Services, school, family, courts, therapists, psychologists or from the emergency department of Alegent Health hospitals.
