Bergan Mercy's experienced staff specializes in warm welcomes to expectant mothers. We are familiar with firsts. As the first maternity service established in Omaha and the second largest in the state, Bergan Mercy is thoroughly experienced in all deliveries, including complicated and high-risk pregnancies.
Our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) can handle babies who need a little extra help, or are extremely premature. A perinatologist is available for high-risk pregnancies, and our anesthesiology services and physicians provide 24-hour in-house coverage. All our nurses are highly skilled to handle all your needs, including lactation. We strongly promote breastfeeding and will support your needs. We have highly trained Postpartum nurses, Certified Lactation Counselors and Lactation Consultants to meet your individual needs when it comes to breastfeeding success. And a state-of-the-art security system gives you assurance that you and your infant are secure.
We were also the area's first to renovate our birthing rooms into comfortable bedroom-like suites. Each suite includes a sofa, rocking chair, TV, DVD, wireless internet access (Wi-fi), refrigerator, and bathroom. We strongly encourage rooming in with your baby to promote bonding. If at any time you need your baby in the nursery, we will accomodate your request.
