What is home oxygen therapy?
People with asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, cystic fibrosis or congestive heart failure may benefit from using oxygen therapy at home. A physician must write a prescription for oxygen therapy specific to your individual needs.
What is CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)?
One of the most reliable treatment options for OSA is CPAP. A CPAP machine works during sleep by gently blowing air into a mask applied over your nose. The air pressure keeps the airway open, helping the patient breathe thereby eliminating the apnea.
What is BiPAP?
A BiPAP (bi-level positive airway pressure) machine is similar to a CPAP machine except that it is programmed to deliver air at two different pressures. When a person inhales the pressure is higher and when exhaling, the pressure is lower.
