Omaha, Neb. – Alegent Health has been designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Spine SurgerySM and a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip ReplacementSM by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska for providing high-quality care and safety in knee and hip replacements and spine surgery, according to Ann Schumacher, vice president and chief operating officer for Alegent Health Immanuel Medical Center.
“The Blue Distinction® designation helps our patients know that we have a proven track record for meeting aggressive quality standards,” said Schumacher, who is responsible for the Alegent Health orthopaedic continuum of care. “As a full-service health system, we provide access to the entire spectrum of knee and hip replacements, and spine surgery, including emergency services, inpatient surgery, outpatient care, physical therapy and home care.”
Alegent Health Bergan Mercy Medical Center, Immanuel Medical Center, and Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, and Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, received the Blue Distinction designation after meeting the selection criteria that was developed with input from a panel of expert physicians., including quality and safety of inpatient care, patient support services, surgeon experience, quality management programs, multi-disciplinary clinical pathways, and patient education.
Alegent Health offers knee and hip replacement and spine surgery, as well as treatment for sports injuries, foot and ankle problems and shoulder issues, according to Ann Schumacher.
