OMAHA, Neb. – Alegent Health is sponsoring the Omaha Creative Institute’s Traveling Workshop to spread creativity to families across the metro.
The Traveling Workshop is a creative caravan, consisting of a refurbished truck and horse trailer donated by two Omaha Creative Institute board members. It houses all of the materials the Omaha Creative Institute needs to take their signature "Come Create It" workshop experiences to various outposts of Omaha and the surrounding area. Workshop activities include watercolor painting, ukulele lessons, oil and acrylic painting and more.
"We know that art and music can be healing," said Richard A. Hachten II, FACHE, president and chief executive officer for Alegent Health. "This project will give opportunities to families in the area to connect with the artistic process and be creative. We believe health and wellness is about more than going to see your doctor, it’s also about getting out and meeting one another, gathering together and celebrating. This workshop will give people that opportunity."
Susan Thomas, executive director of the Omaha Creative Institute added: "The Traveling Workshop will expand upon Omaha Creative Institute's mission of making creative experiences accessible to the Omaha community. This sponsorship will allow us to break away from our permanent location in North Downtown Omaha and bring our signature "Come Create It" workshops to the rest of the city."
Upcoming dates include:
July 21 – Gretna Days Parade, July 23 – Workshops at Common Ground in Elkhorn, August 25 – Dundee Day Parade & Festival, Sept. 22 – River City Rodeo Parade
