The leaders of Alegent Health and Creighton University made the logical choice when deciding on a name for the entities' new partnership:
"Alegent Creighton Health."
Alegent and Creighton are announcing the new name today, but the change won't occur until Sept. 1, when Alegent finishes the process of acquiring Creighton University Medical Center.
In April, Richard Hachten, president and chief executive officer of Alegent, and the Rev. Timothy Lannon, Creighton University's president, said Alegent would acquire the medical center sometime this summer. The two said on Friday that Alegent is on track to complete the acquisition and finalize long-term affiliations with the university that will make Alegent's hospitals and clinics the primary teaching sites for Creighton's schools of health sciences.
