A unique treatment is giving new life to heart patients who had few options, if any.
"I'd say anybody that passes this up is making a big mistake," Smejkal said.
In a TAVR procedure, doctors said, a patient gets all the benefits of open-heart surgery without a chest incision.
"I go through the groin and take the catheter, take the valve up, stretch it open and this new valve takes over," said Alegent Creighton Health cardiologist Ruby Satpathy.
Satpathy said it's a shorter procedure and patients have a faster recovery.
