Volunteers help people go from wheelchairs to water skis

Sunday, people who use wheelchairs were able to water ski in the Adaptive Water Ski annual event.

“It’s the best day of the year if you’re in a wheelchair,” said Dennis Pyle, who participated in the event.

Pyle wouldn’t be able to do it, however, without the help of volunteers.

“(We) provide people opportunities just like they had before they had an injury or illness that affected them,” said volunteer Jena Munson.

A team from Alegent Creighton Health Immanuel Rehabilitation Center and the Champion Lakes Estate Ski Club were on hand to combine their skills and training.
