(LA VISTA, Neb) – While many clinics are structured around workflow and physician schedules, a new Alegent Health Clinic at 96th & Giles will be built around the patient and their experience. From what the patient sees when they walk in the door of this multi-disciplinary clinic to how conveniently blood tests can be done will all be determined by what patients have told us they want.
"The time is right for this kind of clinic," said Rick Rolston, M.D., president and chief executive officer of Alegent Health Clinic. "There is nothing more important to us than the patient experience. If we get that right, we will succeed."
While the building will be new when it opens next summer, many of the physicians and providers will be familiar to the Sarpy County community. Alegent Health Clinic plans to consolidate its Applewood and Brentwood locations into the new clinic and add additional specialists for the patients’ convenience.
"This clinic will allow us to offer more services to our patients," explained Christine Inguanzo, M.D., a family practice physician who currently cares for patients at the Alegent Health Clinic at Brentwood. "Patients who need lab work, physical therapy or prescriptions can find them all in one location – it saves them time, which helps to ease their anxiety and that’s important."
The 32,500 square foot clinic will focus on helping people stay healthy, which is where health care reform is taking the industry. "Ambulatory care – including outpatient/clinic care – has never been more important than it will become in the next few years," said Richard A. Hachten II, FACHE, president and CEO of Alegent Health. "Clearly that is where health care is going and that is where we, as an organization, are focusing our efforts and resources. Making sure our community has convenient access to care is important especially when it comes to being their partner in health."
Dr. Rolston says moving from "event care" – where you get sick and go to the doctor – to "continuous care" – where you form an ongoing relationship with your doctor – will lead to healthier communities and ultimately reduce health care costs.
"We know that one size does not fit all in health care," said Dr. Rolston. "My colleagues and I became doctors because we wanted to help people. Alegent Health Clinic and this facility especially will help us do that in very personalized way."
That care begins with a building design that is very patient friendly. "We will have 36 exam rooms – 12 in each of three wings of the building," said Anthony Hatcher, D.O., director of development for Alegent Health Clinic. "By also offering laboratory services, specialty care, pharmacy, physical therapy and a team approach to patient care, we will be able to streamline the patient experience. People are busy and we need to make it easy for them to stay healthy."
