Cliff Robertson, M.D., is the chief executive officer of Catholic Health Initiative’s (CHI) Nebraska/Southwest Iowa Network. He is an experienced family practice physician and health system executive. Before coming to Nebraska, Dr. Robertson served CHI in a dual role – as the interim chief executive officer (CEO) of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston and as chief operating officer (COO) of Franciscan Health System in Washington state. At Franciscan, Dr. Robertson was responsible for daily operations and strategic direction of the seven-hospital system.
Dr. Robertson was previously the senior vice president of Physician Development and president and chief medical officer of Franciscan Medical Group from 1999 to 2009. He had been a part of the Franciscan Health System since 1995. He also has more than 15 years of business leadership experience both in the healthcare arena and as the chief executive officer of a private business franchise.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his medical degree from Ohio State College of Medicine. Dr. Robertson completed his residency and internship in family practice at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. He received his master’s in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University.
Dr. Robertson strongly believes in giving back to others, serving on various community and civic boards. His current professional affiliations include The Geneva Foundation, Carena, Inc., and CHI’s Center for Research and Innovation (CIRI). While at Franciscan, Dr. Robertson served on the King County Healthcare Coalition, Tacoma Goodwill Industries, and the Board of Trustees for the Washington State Hospital Association. In addition, he was previously a member of The Healthcare Roundtable for Chief Operating Officers, the Washington State Medical Association and the Pierce County Medical Society.
Dr. Robertson is married and has three children. When he is not working, Dr. Robertson enjoys playing golf, skiing and traveling with wife, Carol, and his family.
