Dedicated exclusively to breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and the management and surveillance of pre-existing cancer, the Breast Health Center is designed exclusively for women who have or who have had breast cancer and for women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer. There are several risk factors for breast cancer, some you can control within your lifestyle, but others are inherent. Knowing your personal risk can be confusing. Alegent Creighton Health offers cancer genetic education and testing that can determine your risk of developing breast cancer.

The Breast Health Center expedites the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer by offering technology and staff specifically dedicated to breast care and cancer. Our advanced digital mammography technology provides the highest level of accuracy for even the smallest tumors. But more importantly, if anything suspicious is found, we’ll make sure that you receive all follow-up testing – including a biopsy, if necessary – within a matter of days, not weeks.
The Breast Health Center, located at Bergan Mercy, Lakeside Hospital and Immanuel, is staffed by Radiologists and Nurse Practitioners who are dedicated to and have special training in breast cancer. If cancer is detected, patients of the Breast Health Center are also offered the opportunity to partner with a Nurse Navigator. A Nurse Navigator is an oncology-certified nurse who is available to guide patients through the entire process of diagnosis and treatment.

Our Breast Health Centers offer an exceptional, specialized staff, including a fellowship-trained breast radiologist, a Breast Health Coordinator and mammography technologists.
A Center of Excellence
The Breast Health Center is recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) by the American College of Radiology. This designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The Alegent Creighton Health Breast Health Center is now accredited by the American College of Surgeon's National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Accreditation by the NAPBC is granted only to those centers that are voluntarily committed to providing the best possible care to patients with diseases of the breast. Each breast center must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with NAPBC Standards.
