Each year, hundreds of patients are treated with the most advanced technologies by our team of highly skilled medical professionals. In fact, we treat more breast, lung and colon cancer patients than any other health system in the metro area. The Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Center, serving the Omaha area, provides a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating cancer. Our cancer treatment services include surgery, medical and radiation oncology, dedicated inpatient oncology units and a wide array of support services. Integrated care, with an emphasis on treating the whole person, is the focus of the Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Center. We create an individualized care plan that encompasses treatment, complementary medicine, rehabilitation, support groups and survivorship programs all while in a warm and supportive recovery environment.

Clinical Trials
New research can renew hope for patients with cancer. Because we believe our patients should have access to the most advanced medicines and treatment options available, we participate in clinical trials. Clinical trials are research studies in which patients may volunteer to take part. These trials are made possible through our membership with the Missouri Valley Cancer Consortium. Directed by the National Cancer Institute, this program provides Alegent Creighton Health patients access to hundreds of cancer-related studies. Patients at Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Center benefit by getting more options to treat their cancer, in the comfort of their family and friends, and staying close to home.

Accreditation
The Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Center has received a three-year Network Accreditation with Commendation from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC). The CoCis a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
Network Accreditation is a testament to the integration of cancer services and an assurance of one consistent standard of care governed by a single board of directors and a single cancer registry database that includes: Genetics, Clinical Trials, Counseling, Image Recovery and a Nurse Navigator program. This new accreditation replaces the individual hospital accreditations that Bergan Mercy, Immanuel and Midlands hospitals have held in the past.

Radiation Oncology
Patients at the Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Centers have access to the world’s most advanced cancer treatment close to home. The state-of-the-art equipment allows physicians to provide pinpoint localization and treatment of the tumor while minimizing damage to the surrounding tissue. As a breakthrough for patients with prostate cancer and gynecologic cancer, the
da Vinci is the most-effective, least invasive surgical approach to cancer treatment available. And Alegent Creighton Health was the first to bring the state-of-the-art da Vinci S 3D HD surgical system with 4-arm technology to Nebraska.

Nurse Navigators
Of all the ways you might feel during cancer treatment, alone won’t be one of them. The Oncology Nurse Navigator Program is designed to ease the burden on patients during their cancer treatment. A Nurse Navigator is an oncology-certified nurse who is available 24 hours a day to guide a patient through the entire process of diagnosis and treatment at the Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Center, at no additional cost to the patient. They assist with scheduling initial tests and consultations, collaborate with medical team members and help the patient and family members understand his or her diagnosis and identify the best plan for care. Alegent Creighton Health is the only one in the region offering specially trained oncology nurses as their dedicated navigators, ensuring you receive clinical knowledge and expertise every step of the way.

Image Recovery Center®
The way you look often reflects the way you feel. At Alegent Creighton Health, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to look and feel their best, especially cancer patients. Image Recovery is an integral part of cancer services at Alegent Creighton Health. The Image Recovery Center® is a comprehensive hospital-based appearance enhancement program available to cancer patients and designed to help patients prepare for appearance changes they will experience due to surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Our cosmetologists are specially trained to provide services for oncology patients, and the services are performed in our spa-like atmosphere.

Cancer Support Team
When cancer is diagnosed, an oncology-certified social worker will meet with you and your family to provide ongoing education and support throughout the ever-changing treatment process. Their goal is to make sure well coordinated care and service is provided to each patient and family served. They will connect and make referrals to other members of the Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Center support team based on your needs.
Cancer Genetics Program
Five to ten percent of all cancers are inherited. Individuals with a genetic predisposition have a higher risk of developing cancer within their lifetime and at an earlier age. Genetic testing can help determine whether a family has a hereditary cancer syndrome.
The Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Genetics Program can coordinate both genetic testing and high-risk cancer surveillance for individuals and their families with hereditary cancer syndromes.
Cancer Rehabilitation Program
The Alegent Creighton Health Cancer Rehabilitation Program offers specific support, skill-building and information to help each patient and family to better cope with the diagnosis of cancer and its treatment.
Alegent Creighton Health's Cancer Center Rehabilitation health professionals are well-trained in managing the physical and psychological effects that cancer can have on a patient's quality of life. A variety of professional therapists and specialists work with each patient and family to address functional, emotional, spiritual and social needs.
