Electrophysiology (EP), or heart rhythm management, is the study, diagnosis, and treatment of the abnormalities (arrhythmias) of the electrical conduction of the heart. An electrophysiologist is a cardiologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatments these abnormalities. The electrophysiologists at the Alegent Creighton Health Heart & Vascular Institute specialize in treating arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia and many others with the latest technology, procedures and devices. They work collaboratively with our general cardiologists and interventional cardiologists as well as cardiovascular surgeons to provide high-quality patient centered care for a wide variety of conditions including atrial fibrillation.
Atrial fibrillation is the most common abnormal rhythm (arrhythmia) and many new treatment options are available. We work with patients to identify and minimize potential risk factors for recurrences of arrhythmia. It is our goal to eliminate confusion about the management of afib, provide patients with the latest and most reliable treatment options specific to a patient’s individual needs.

Heart Care Support Group
Family, caregivers and patients of Alegent Creighton Health who have an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) or been affected by an ICD are invited to attend our quarterly support group meetings. Each meeting offers education about ICD’s and provides an avenue for patients and caregivers to share their experiences with others who are dealing with similar feelings and concerns.
