Unique to the service of hospice, volunteers play a special role in the care of our patients and families. Carefully selected and specially trained volunteers work alongside hospice staff to provide support for our patients and their families. Hospice volunteers provide companionship, short periods of caregiver respite, light household or outdoor assistance and diverse activities. In additional to supportive care with families, volunteers are also involved in bereavement support, provide office assistance and help with special events and activities.

Additionally, Alegent Health is the first healthcare system in Omaha to offer the No One Dies Alone (NODA) ™ program. NODA volunteers are companions to the dying, providing comfort and support to the patient and their family. NODA volunteers are a peaceful, calming presence that lets the patient know they are not alone during their final moments of life.

Give a Gift of Your Support
Alegent Health is a not-for-profit Hospice and contributions allow us to provide services to those without coverage, or those whose needs exceed their current coverage. Contributions also assist in the funding of our volunteer and bereavement programs, and can be made in memory or in honor of any individual or group. There are a variety of ways to make a tax-deductible gift, including some that provide a lifetime income to you or others.

Give the Gift of Knowledge
Seek to educate yourself and others by learning more about the issues of hospice, advance directives, options for care and services available to you and your loved ones. Provide opportunities for open discussions with your family and friends. Consider inviting a member of our hospice team to speak to your group.
