Before Your Procedure

Lakeside Surgery Center front deskA nurse from the Lakeside Surgery Center will contact you at least 24 hours before your procedure. Please notify your surgeon, before your scheduled procedure, if there is a change in your physical condition such as a cold, fever or respiratory problems.

Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and remain with you the first 24 hours after your procedure, unless otherwise instructed.

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight, unless otherwise specifically instructed by one of the surgery center nurses. Also, please follow any other specific instructions your surgeon may have given you. Failure to follow these instructions may result in cancellation of your procedure.

You will need to have all your lab work and any other required tests completed prior to the scheduled date of your procedure.

When you arrive at the Lakeside Surgery Center you will be greeted by our reception staff, who will check you in and register you for your procedure. Please bring your driver’s license, insurance card, and any co-pay or co-insurance on the day of your procedure.Once you have completed your registration a Pre-0p nurse will bring you back to your private pre-op room to prepare you for your procedure.

Your Procedure

Depending on the type of surgery and other factors, you may walk into the operating room and anesthesia will be administered there. An Anesthesiologist or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists administer a full line of anesthesia services for patients of all ages. The length of time you will spend in the operating room will depend upon the type of surgical procedure. Ask your physician in advance how long your surgery is anticipated to last. If your child is having surgery, feel free to bring a favorite stuffed toy or security blanket for added assurance. A parent or guardian must remain in the surgery center throughout the minor child’s stay.

Lakeside Surgery Center Recovery RoomAfter Your Procedure

After your procedure is complete, you will be moved to a recovery area and under the supervision of an RN. Once you are ready for visitors, you will be moved to a more private recovery area where you may be given something to eat and drink, and your visitors will be invited to you join you.

You will be given written instructions regarding diet, activity and medications. In the event of any difficulty, call your surgeon, their answering service, or the nearest hospital emergency room.

A nurse for the Lakeside Surgery Center will call the day after your procedure to see how you are doing and to answer any questions you may have.
