Michael T. Rowan joined Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) in March 2004. As president of Health System Delivery and chief operating officer of CHI, he provides strategic direction and management oversight for all of CHI’s locally based healthcare services, clinical operations, national business lines, information technology and performance management, as well as Mission and corporate responsibility. His accomplishments include leading initiatives to improve financial performance, such as a reorganization of system and local operations, an expense-reduction initiative and a revenue cycle improvement project.
Prior to joining CHI, Mr. Rowan served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of St. John Health in Detroit, Mich. In previous positions, Mr. Rowan served as president and chief executive officer of Humility of Mary Health Partners in Youngstown, Ohio; executive vice president and chief operating officer of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, Sarasota, Fla.; and vice president of Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, Ga.
Rowan received a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree from Miami University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Rowan has served on the boards of Centura Health of Colorado and the National Association of Health Services Executives; on the Board Nominating Committee of the Catholic Health Association of America; and on the National Healthcare Executive Council of the American Red Cross.
