Trauma centers are ranked, from Level I (comprehensive services) to Level III (limited care), based on the resources available within a trauma center and the number of patients admitted yearly. Creighton University Medical Center, a Level I trauma center, has the facilities, resources, protocols and expertise to provide optimal emergency care for critically injured patients.
Always Ready
Creighton University Medical Center's Level I trauma center serves not only the metro Omaha area, but also eastern Nebraska and four bordering states. We treat approximately 32,000 patients yearly. The center utilizes Life Net helicopter service to airlift patients for critical trauma care. Our dedicated trauma bays ensure rapid and comprehensive patient evaluation and treatment. The trauma center itself is equipped with a CAT Scan suite, an on-site lab and X-ray for fast and complete reviews of injuries.
The Trauma Team
Specialized critical care teams, led by intensivists and surgeons, staff our 25-bed tertiary-care intensive care unit. CUMC's operating room teams stand ready to provide rapid damage-control surgery to improve survivability. Our critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and other team members all are dedicated to ensuring superior care using evidence-based practices.

Gold Seal Accreditation
Creighton University Medical Center is one of only two hospitals in the U.S. recognized by the Joint Commission for its management of orthopedic trauma. CUMC earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with the commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in disease-specific care.
Life after Trauma
After acute care has been provided, a Alegent Creighton Health provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, including: brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitaion, and physical, occupational, speech therapy if needed, ensuring a continuum of patient care.
